On Resposibility

Do the people who said they’d ride out the storm — defying a mandatory evacuation — bear some responsibility for what happened to them? Does the government there bear some responsibility for not having adequate means to evactuate those who could not get out on their own, on buses, trains, or any means possible? Yes. — Jeff Jarvis
Though we may blame the Iraq War or whatever else, we must realized that many of those people should have left. I’ve seen it here in my state. When the last hurricane came through, some folks didn’t leave. Bad choice.
But I feel for those who lost everything. We had some people in my town who lost everything in the last hurricane that hit us. We had the Red Cross up here, and it’s hard to see. When I mulitply what happened here a hundred times, I can imagine the horror.
The smells. I know them. The sight of murky water, sink holes, boats on main streets. People wading to safety.
We pray for those who have lost everything. May God rescue you, and bring you peace.
